Devizes Budo Club host German and French counterparts in annual exchange
Devizes Budo Club in Wiltshire hosted 20 visitors from the town’s two Twin towns: Mayenne in France and Waiblingen in Germany over the weekend of the 13th-14th June.
The visit was part of annual exchange between Devizes Budo Club and Mayenne Judo Club which started in 1974 before Waiblingen Judo/Jiu Jitsu joined the exchange in 1979.
The session on the Saturday morning included a masterclass from BJA South West Technical Officer, Sandra Klinger and additional skills training from other high grade judo coaches.
The German and French guests were also taken to the Roman City of Bath and Longleat Safari Park over the weekend before their trip culminated with a disco.
Club trustee Richard Hopkins said: “I’m delighted with how the Club pulled together to host and entertain our guests.
“Our long term relationships brings us together at twinning time and at major international events like London 2012 and the Tournoi de Paris to name just two”.
The next exchange between the clubs will be hosted by Mayenne Judo Club in northern France in June 2016.
