AASE programme set to offer UCAS points for 2017 starters
British Judo is pleased to announce that the Advanced Apprenticeship in Sporting Excellence (AASE) programme has been officially recognised by UCAS with certificate elements worth up to 85 UCAS points.
The recognition will come into effect for those starting a Higher Education course in September 2017, with the Certificate in Achieving Excellence in Sports Performance worth 45 points and the Certificate in Understanding Sports Performance worth 40 under the new UCAS tariff.
James Thomas, British Judo Performance Pathway Manager, said: “AASE is a fantastic programme for aspiring athletes who want to dedicate more time to training and learning about themselves as performers with the ultimate aim of progressing towards Olympic and Paralympic Games.
“AASE is a key component of the British Judo Performance Pathway and is now being delivered at 8 approved Centres throughout England. The news that UCAS are now recognising AASE by awarding up to 85 points is a huge boost for players who want to move on to Higher Education at some point in their career and reinforces the programmes importance in the Performance Pathway.”
