Judo to join sporting history of The SSE Arena, Wembley
The 2015 British Open will see judo join the long list of sporting competitions held within the historic walls of The SSE Arena, Wembley and you could be there to see it!
The arena is a sporting venue by nature, originally built for the 1934 British Empire Games, now known as the Commonwealth Games, a competition which saw the profile of judo rise as medal upon medal were taken by home nation competitors at the Glasgow 2014 games.
The SSE Arena, Wembley has an envious sporting history and is one of few venues able to boast the hosting of two Olympic Games, most recently hosting the London 2012 badminton and rhythmic gymnastics competitions. With the British Open 2015 set to be hosted at The SSE Arena, Wembley, judo will be the latest in a long list of Olympic sports hosted at the venue.
The British Open will be held from 11-12th July 2015 and will see the British Olympic judo squad competing on home soil ahead of the Rio 2016 Olympic games. For the first time the event will also host a ‘Fan Zone’, enabling seasoned judo fans and newcomers to the sport to find out more about judo and get involved in fun activities for the whole family.
