British Judo Association to launch ‘Throw Yourself Into Judo’ campaign
The British Judo Association, the national governing body for the Olympic sport of Judo in Great Britain, has today announced plans for a new mass-participation initiative, ‘Throw Yourself Into Judo’, aimed at encouraging more people to get into the sport.
The launch of the campaign on Wednesday 27th May will coincide with a new dedicated website, www.throwyourselfintojudo.com, going live; the website will provide a comprehensive resource library for those who are new to the sport or who want to find out more about opportunities in volunteering, coaching, officiating and refereeing.
With nearly 900 clubs across the country catering for children and adults and men and women of all abilities, ‘Throw Yourself Into Judo’ will also help those who want to take part in the sport find a local club.
“Judo is a fantastic sport and is an ideal way to get fit, make new friends and have fun,” said British Judo Chairman Kerrith Brown.
“It’s a sport with a rich tradition and has respect, self-discipline, fairness, responsibility, honesty and positivity at the centre of all its teachings. By launching ‘Throw Yourself Into Judo’ we aim to extend our reach within our existing network and also to engage with men and women, boys and girls who may have little or no knowledge of judo, to raise awareness of a sport that can truly benefit participants of all ages and abilities”.
