Your Sport Needs You: Wessex Judo Club wins trip to Japan

British Judo is pleased to announce that Wessex Judo Club have been drawn as the winner of the Your Sport Needs You competition and will be awarded a trip to Japan!

The draw for the competition took place today at the British Judo Centre of Excellence and was drawn by British Judo Chairman, Kerrith Brown. The competition began on 5th December 2014 with entries into the prize draw gained for every 2 members growth achieved by clubs in England.

Commenting on the draw, British Judo Chairman, Kerrith Brown said: “I’m delighted for the club, training in Japan is the ultimate experience for any judoka. Rewarding our clubs for the great work they are doing is very important to us as an Association.

“I wish Wessex Judo Club all the best for their trip.”

Wessex Judo Club grew by 8 members during the competition. The club was formed in 1990 in Poole, Dorset and was initially housed at the Ashdown Sports Centre in Canford Heath. The club now runs junior and senior sessions in Corfe Mullen.

On hearing the result of the draw, Club Chairman, Philip Jeffery, said: “This is great news! We’re absolutely thrilled, what a great opportunity for the club!”

The club will now be nominating the members who will be taking the trip to Japan.
