Kayla Harrison Olympic and World champion and Neil Adams twice Olympic medallist and world champion both fought at the C2 Tonbridge camp held at the prestigious Tonbridge School in Kent.

The annual camp, now in its seventh year took place between Friday 18 and Monday 21 December 2014, and saw Japanese and Russian fighters return to the camp to meet old rivals.

Neil Adams said: “The camp is ideal for the up and coming youth as it provides a fantastic randori camp just as the Great Britain programme is winding down before Christmas and then they have a Christmas break and then they return to Kendal followed by Mittersill at the start of the year. I was impressed by the quality of technical practice at C2.”

Players from Germany, France, Scotland, Ireland, Australia, America, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Italy, Latvia, Netherlands and Poland all attended the camp.

Great Britain’s Nathon Burns and Stuart McWatt and his Camberley comrades were in attendance and there was some quality randori practice for the fighters from around the world.

Japan’s Tokai University sent a team to train under coach Yamgauchi, while Russia’s Ezio Gamba, who is credited with leading Russia to their greatest ever Olympic display in London 2012 Games, handed over the reins to Sergey Kosmolin and his team of Russian players who enjoyed the event.

Camp organiser Carl Finney said: “The Japanese and Russian teams were amazing and they were the stars of the camp, providing high quality randori. Throughout the camp the players were a credit to the sport of judo and they conducted themselves in an excellent manner.

All the teams said they are looking forward to this years camp 2015 and will return.”

This year’s camp which will be held between 18 and 21 December 2015.
