A number of British Judo athletes are seeking to move higher up the world ranking list by competing at the African Open in Mauritius from tomorrow until Sunday (November 8 and 9).

The event in Port Louis carries 100 world ranking points for a gold medal; 60 for a silver; 40 for a bronze. There are also attractive points on offer for placings.

Last year’s -66kg gold medallist Lewis Keeble is looking forward to returning to the Indian Ocean island. His fiance’ Nekoda Davis, who won a gold medal at the same time last year at the European Cup in Malaga; will be joining him this year as the golden couple aim to do the double in Mauritius.

Lucas Rowe (-60kg) will be in action along with Nathon Burns (-66kg), Connor Ireland (-73kg), Owen Livesey (-81kg), Andrew Burns (-90kg), Frazer Chamberlain (-90kg).

Also competing are Kelly Edwards (-52kg), Louise Renicks (-52kg), Jade Lewis (-52kg), Kelly Staddon (-52kg), Stephanie Inglis (-57kg), Jodie Mullen (-63kg) and Kirsty Powell (-63kg).
