Calling all Midlands VI judoka – have you got Paralympic potential?
Are you a visually impaired judoka wanting to follow in the footsteps of legends such as Ben Quilter and Sam Ingram to become a Paralympian?
If so then make sure you don’t miss out on a free event aimed at supporting young people at grassroots who are visually impaired and already practice judo within 50 miles of the Midlands.
This will take place at the Gymnastics and Martial Arts Centre (GMAC) in Birmingham on Wednesday 19 March between 10am and 2pm, and is open to all practicing judoka between the ages of 11 and 19.
You could potentially be spotted by British Judo talent scouts at the event as this will serve as the first base to establish existing talent who could be considered for entry into the Paralympic programme.
There is no cost to attend, all delegates are asked to do is to provide their own lunch.
From arrival at 9.45am, the day will begin with introductions from the organisers Jeremy Adams and Denny Roberts, as well as Kerrith Brown, Chairman of the British Judo Association.
After a warm up, sessions will follow on with standing techniques and ground work and then randori after lunch up until 2pm.
All are welcome, from judo clubs and schools. While it does fall during the school day, teachers may wish to include it as a trip for part of their own physical education sessions. For more details or to book a place contact Jeremy Adams on 0121 325 3903 or email jeremy.adams4@btinternet.com.
