Ashley McKenzie sports a new look for Sports Relief
GB Judoka Ashley McKenzie swapped his judogi for an apron in a fun-packed photo shoot for Sport Relief.
The Celebrity Big brother contestant joined England rugby player James Haskell, boxer Amir Khan, Paralympic star Will Bayley, Olympic star Elise Christie to pose in aprons designed by Emma Bridgewater.
The athletes switched their strict exercise regimes for a whisk and a pinny in the humorous snaps, which see them posing in aprons designed by the British pottery maker.
Helping to raise cash for this year’s worthwhile cause, Ashley joined a number of famous faces adding their weight to the campaign, which helps transform the lives of some of the poorest and most disadvantaged people.
Amir Khan accessorised his printed kitchen wear with a pair of red boxing gloves, while Louis got himself into a number of impossible-looking positions and Ashley used comedic actions in his own shot, since Join the Fun and Games’ was the tagline for the shoot he took part in, indicating that Sport Relief is an enjoyable and achievable event.
The Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Games take place from Friday 21 to Sunday 23 March 2014 and there are loads of activities you can get involved in to raise money on a local level before and after the event too.
Ashley said: “I am honoured to be taking part in this years Sport Relief alongside other great sportmen and women.
“The event brings together the worlds of sport and entertainment to raise money to help vulnerable people in the UK and poor countries around the world.
“This is a great concept which I’m happy to support.
“I love the fact that Sport Relief encourages people to get involved in sport whilst raising money at the same time, like the Sport Relief mile which takes place all over the country and absolutely anyone can participate.
“Sport Relief brings everyone together and encourages them to have a go at different sports, have fun and raise much needed funds that can change peoples lives, why wouldn’t I want to be involved?”
Two of these limited edition aprons for Sport Relief were presented to the winners of ‘The Great Sport Relief Bake Off’ on BBC Two.
Both designs are available to buy exclusively from HomeSense and TK Maxx stores across the country, as well as online at TKmaxx.com and sportrelief.com.
