Karen Roberts appointed a team leader for Glasgow 2014

Judo Commonwealth Champion (2002) Karen Roberts has been appointed a team
leader for next summer’s Commonwealth Games.

Following consultation with the National Governing Bodies (NGBs) of each of the Games’ 18 sports, she joins other appointed leaders of their sport’s performance.

These ambassadors will act as the link between Commonwealth Games England (CGE) and their respective NGBs.

Karen is the British Judo’s BJA Performance Projects Manager.

In her athletic career she was Commonwealth – 63kg champion, winning a gold medal for England at the 2002 Games in Manchester.

The World bronze medallist also competed for Team GB at the Sydney 2000 Olympics and was part of the Team Management for their silver and bronze medal wins at London 2012.

All 18 team leaders are committed to England’s goals in Glasgow next year.

As part of the Programme, Team Leaders have already attended workshops in Burton-upon-Trent, home of the world-renowned coach development facilities at St. George’s Park. They also met competition managers and visited venues in Glasgow.
