Vale launches Satellite Judo Clubs
Vale Judo Club has launched five new satellite clubs throughout the East Midlands and is looking to open a sixth club in Deeping, Peterborough before the end the month.
Clubs in Grantham, Bourne, Stamford, Bingham and Melton Mowbray all opened within a day of each other from 3 to 7 June.
Originally based in Oakham and set up 10 years ago, Vale and has rapidly grown to be one of the most successful club chains in the country. It has won the British Judo Club of the Year award and is also the only club in the region with a Sport England Gold club mark award. It has seen several competitors join the British training squads.
Children’s classes are available for girls and boys from 7 to 10 years-old and 11 to 16 years-old, with the aim to build confidence, get fit and make friends.
Senior club coach Mike Newton said “We are delighted to have been able to set up the satellite clubs and look forward to introducing the sport of judo to the local community. Our classes have been exceptionally popular in Oakham and are always full. We also hope be able to extend our long running Rutland Schools Judo Programme to students in these locations.”
