Dear Colleagues,

It has come to the attention of the refereeing commission and BOD that in some competitions being held around the country there are various versions of the competition rules being used, in particular the new IJF rules are known to have been used in different ways.

Please note that only those rule sets that have been approved by the BOD may be used, all other versions (no matter how small the change) are not authorised for usage.

The NRC and BOD understand that it is important for Great Britain to move forward with the new rules, therefore, the rule sets and how they fit within the competition structure is currently under review at a senior level.

Once the review is completed, a formal announcement will be made including an effective date that allows players, coaches, officials and referees to adequately prepare for the implementation.

The BOD authorised usage of the new rules in March 2013 for ranking/national events only, this is still the case until further notice. The IJF govern the official international events, hence the use of the new rules at the British Open.

In summary, all competitions apart from ranking/national/international events should be run on the rules as per the 2012 structure until further notice.
