British Judo will be represented at the latest European Open events on Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 March as the international circuit picks up pace ahead of April’s European Championships.

The Warsaw European Open for men will see an eight-strong British team compete while the Prague European Open for women features a five-strong team.

London 2012 Olympian and British Champion Ashley McKenzie will be looking to repeat his 2011 gold medal at the event in the -60kg category.

British Championships bronze medallist Graham Trinder takes to the tatami in the -60kg category while former Junior European bronze medallist Lewis Keeble takes his place in the -66kg field.

Commonwealth Championships bronze medallist Patrick Dawson fights at -73kg with British Championships silver medallist Andy Burns competing at -90kg.

London 2012 Olympian Chris Sherrington takes on the heavyweight elite in the +100kg category.

Graham Trinder said: “I’m feeling good going into this weekend had a good camp in Paris, I’ve worked a lot on the new rules and I’m looking for a good result this weekend.”

Nathon Burns and Jan Gosiewski will both self-fund their participation. The former fights in the -66kg category while Gosiewski takes on the top -73kg judoka.

In Prague, British Champion Kimberley Renicks sees action at -48kg while two-time European Cup medallist Connie Ramsey battles for honours in the -57kg category.

British Champions Faith Pitman and Megan Fletcher see action at -63kg and -70kg respectively while Wales’ Abu Dhabi Grand Prix silver medallist Natalie Powell completes the selection at -78kg.
