Open entry for the 2013 British Judo Championships

The British Judo Board of Directors have decided that the senior 2013 British Judo Championships will be open entry rather than inviting the top 16 from the BJA ranking list.

The 2013 British Championships for seniors will take place on Sunday 20 January and will be open to all judoka who hold a minimum brown belt. Closing date for entries is Friday 4th January 2013 OR when 200 entries have been received.

The format of elimination for this event will be pools throughout (pools to pools). The first two players in each pool will qualify for the next round of pools. If the entry level is too high, the method of elimination will then revert to knockout with compound repechage.

The top eight players per category will be seeded using the British Senior Ranking List.

In the cadet competition players born in 1996 will now be able to compete to reflect new IJF and EJU rules.

The format will be Knockout with Compound Repechage for categories with eight or more competitors. Categories with fewer than eight competitors will be fought in pools or pools to knockout.

The 2013 British Championships for cadet boys and pre-cadet girls will take place on Saturday 12 January with cadet girls and pre-cadet boys competing on Sunday 13 January.
