Vale Judo Club to receive Clubmark Gold Award
Vale Judo Club, British Judo’s 2010 Club of the Year, will receive the coveted Clubmark Gold Award on Saturday 26 May when they welcome some of stars of the sport to relaunch their extended new dojo.
The club has installed a 20m x 10m matted sprung floor courtesy of a £10,000 Sport England grant and will now celebrate their Clubmark success with Loretta Cusack, Joyce Heron and Yoko Tanabe who will run a series of coaching sessions on the day.
Head coach Mike Newton said: “We were delighted to receive news of the award having been the first club located in the East Mids to have gained the bronze and silver awards, we wanted to make sure that we would be the first club in the region to win the Clubmark Gold Award.
“Our new sprung floor is terrific in that it allows our judoka to participate in more high quality and randori – the increased mat area has also allowed us to take a lot of kids in to the club off the waiting list.”
All judo players training at a club located in the East Midlands and holding a current judo licence (BJA, BJC, AJA) are welcome to attend – the schedule for the day is as follows:
9:30am: Registration Opens
10:00am-11:00am: Girls & Boys aged under 10
11:00-12:00pm: Boys aged 10-14
