A 16 strong GB Judo team will be in action at this weekend’s Gdynia Junior European Cup in Poland on Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 July.

A young junior team will be taking to the mat at a tournament where GB enjoyed great success last year. The 2016 competition saw five British judoka end up on the medal rostrum including gold for Lubjana Piovesana (-63kg) and bronze medals for Acelya Toprak (-57kg), Lele Nairne (-57kg), Eric Ham (-73kg) and Rhys Thompson (-100kg).

Only Molly Harvey (-52kg) out of the GB team has medalled so far at Junior European Cup level, a silver in Ploiesti last year at -48kg. However, a number of the British judoka will be aiming to change that in Poland this weekend.

Chloe Nunn (-70kg), pictured above, was a bronze medallist at the Cadet European Championships last year and she as well as Olivia Spellman (-63kg) and Jacob Aldridge (-66kg) will be hoping to take their medal winning performances at Cadet European Cup level to the next level.

Competition starts at 0830 UK time with live coverage via eju.net and ippon.org. Follow @BritishJudo on Twitter for medal updates
