7 Fighters set for Prague Junior European Cup this weekend
With a little over 1 week until the start of the Olympic Games in Tokyo, it is our future Olympians that will be in action this weekend at the Prague Junior European Cup in the Czech Republic.
The Arena Sparta is set to welcome over 400 fighters over the two-day event with action getting underway on Saturday 17th with 6 British fighters taking to the tatami.
Luke Caldwell and James Gray compete in the -60kg category for the second time this month after both competing at the Coimbra Junior European Cup. Gray finished 5th at the Fuengirola Cadet European Cup in 2020 before stepping up to the junior ranks this year.
In the -66kg category Charlie Young and Euann Mightens are in action. Former European Youth Olympic Festival 5th placed fighter Young, last competed in Prague at the European Open in February. Mightens made his continental debut earlier this month when he competed at the Coimbra Junior European Cup.
Oliver Short and Billy Rodman compete in the -73kg category. Short competes for the third time this year after competing at the Zagreb European Open in May and Coimbra Junior European Cup at the start of July. Rodman also competed in Coimbra, which was his first continental competition since February 2020.
On Sunday Jason Davis is the sole British fighter in action as he competes in the -90kg category. Davis, like many of his teammates, also competed in Coimbra earlier this month.
Elimination Rounds are scheduled to start at 08:00 GMT with Final Block to follow straight after. Please note these timings are schedule to change by the meeting organiser and host broadcaster and will be finalised at the Draw.
