41 Fighters set for Prague European Open
The race for Commonwealth Games selection hots up this weekend as 41 GB Judo fighters head to the Czech Republic for the Prague European Open.
GB Judo will be represented by 30 male and 11 female fighters.
JudoScotland dominate the -60kg category with four fighters in action, 8th seed Dylan Munro, David Ferguson, Neil MacDonald and Nordine Adrif will be joined by Welsh fighter Daniel Rabbitt.
There is a Home Nation feel to the -66kg category with seven fighters in action representing England, Scotland and Wales.
2021 Dubrovnik European Cup gold medallist Alexander Short is joined by 2021 British Champion Gregg Varey and silver medallist Charlie Young.
Daniel Powell narrowly missed out on a medal at the Warsaw European Open last weekend, finishing 5th. The -73kg fighter is one of four GB Judo competitors competing in that weight category.

Stuart McWatt (featured image) who continues to make his return to competition following a shoulder injury in 2021, competes in the -81kg category whilst Dubrovnik European Cup gold medallist Jamal Petgrave competes in the -90kg category.
Rhys Thompson picked up GB Judo’s first medal of 2022 when he claimed bronze at the Sarajevo European Open in February. He will be joined by Sarajevo European Open bronze medallist Harry Lovell-Hewitt and Dubrovnik European Cup bronze medallist Max Gregory.
2021 British Champion Wesley Greenidge competes alongside London 2012 Olympian and Glasgow Commonwealth Games Champion Christopher Sherrington in the +100kg category.
Five female fighters compete in the -52kg category. 2019 European Junior and U23 Championship bronze medallist Yasmin Javadian finished 5th at last weekend’s Warsaw European Open. She will be joined by 2021 British Champion, Chloe Robyns-Landricombe and Glasgow Commonwealth Games -48kg Champion, Kimberley Renicks.

There is a welcome return to competition for welsh fighter Jasmin Hacker-Jones. Hacker-Jones represented Team GB at the European Youth Olympic Festival in 2017, finishing 7th, and was a part of the 2019 World Junior Championship team.
Rachel Tytler competes in the -78kg category, whilst Tokyo 2020 Olympian, Sarah Adlington, who is seeded 6th, competes in the +78kg category.
