2022 British Championships (Junior & Senior) Useful Information
We can’t wait for this weekend’s second British Championships which will see our Junior and Senior champions crowned for 2022 at the EIS Sheffield.
The English Institute of Sport (EIS) will see 30 British Champions crowned in front of an expectant crowd. To ensure that the event runs as smoothly as possible, please remind yourself of the competition formats and timings throughout the weekend:
Tickets
As a key part of the judo community, and with the cost of living affecting us all, the BJA wants to give something back to the community. This year, entry for spectators for both weekends of the British Judo Championships at the EIS Sheffield will be free of charge.

Whilst entry to the event will be free of charge, the BJA will also be accepting donations for two charities across both weekends. Read more here.
Merchandise
The official 2022 British Judo event t-shirt comes with a stylish event-themed design and a British Judo logo printed on the reverse. Please note that no participant names are printed on this t-shirt.

Follow the results LIVE!!
On the morning of each event, British Judo will publish a live link which will feature live results for the Championships including draws, pools and contest wins.
Parking
There are multiple events occurring at the EIS Sheffield across the competition weekend. We recommend arriving early to secure a parking space.
Saturday 10th December will be particularly busy with events at both iceSheffield and EIS-Sheffield. The venue is expecting the area to be very busy with on-site parking very limited. Free parking is available at Utilita Arena Sheffield (S9 2DF) on Saturday 10th December only. This is a short 5-minute walk from the venue.
Please note that the British Judo Association are not responsible for any parking fees at the event. Please note that payment for parking at this venue is cash only, all parking queries must be made direct to the venue, EIS Sheffield.
Juniors
Competition Format
The intended method of elimination for this event will be compound knockout.
Contest times will be Four minutes for Men and Women.
Random Weigh-in is at 08:30-09:15. The names of those selected for random weigh-in will be announced at 8:30am in the venue
Competition starts at 09:30
Weight Categories:
Junior Men: -55kg, -60kg, -66kg, -73kg, -81kg, -90kg, -100kg, +100kg
Junior Women: -48kg, -52kg, -57kg, -63kg, -70kg, -78kg, +78kg
Please note: Test scales will be available at registration (where the organisers must be notified of any weight category changes). No changes of weight category will be permitted after the player has weighed in on the official scales. Players who do not make their weight category will be automatically eliminated from the competition and entry fees will not be refunded.
Junior Timetable
Seeding
Due to the limited number of competitions seedings have been calculated via the eligible competitions that have taken place over the past 18-months.
Medals and Points Scoring
Medals will be presented during Final Block.
This Tournament qualifies for points scoring for promotion purposes.
Registration and Weigh-In:
Registration and Weigh-in will be on Friday 9th December 2022. Weigh in will run from 19:00-20:00.
Senior
Competition Format
The intended method of elimination for this event will be compound knockout.
Contest times will be 4 minutes for Men and Women.
Random Weigh-in is at 08:30-09:15. The names of those selected for random weigh-in will be announced at 8:30am in the venue
Competition starts at 09:30am
Weight Categories
Senior Men: -60kg, -66kg, -73kg, -81kg, -90kg, -100kg, +100kg
Senior Women: -48kg, -52kg, -57kg, -63kg, -70kg, -78kg, +78kg
