20 set for European University Games
20 Great Britain judoka travel to Lodz, Poland, today ahead of the European University Games starting on Sunday 24th until Tuesday 26th July.
Judoka were selected following the BUCS Championships earlier this year, with all selected having made the final or medalled.
Ashleigh Barnikel, selected for this summer’s Commonwealth Games, will compete in the -48kg category whilst Amel Simms and Isobel Kitchen will be in action in the -57kg. On day two British Championship silver and bronze medallists Lucy Williams and Fayokemi Abidekun will compete in the +78kg category.
British Senior Championship bronze medallist Jamie Spencer-Pickup will compete in the -81kg category on the opening day whilst on day two, British Junior Champion Alex Jenkins (+100kg) is in action with British Senior Championship silver medallist in the -90kg category, Jacob Popplewell fighting in the -90kg category.
