12 Medal Weekend for GB Juniors in Spain

It was the Junior European Judo Cup, La Coruna this weekend and the British Judo juniors put in a strong show, returning to home soil with 12 medals.

The junior squad ended the tournament third overall, behind Germany and Portugal respectively with the men finishing top of their table.

Gold medals were brought home by Samuel Hall (-60kg) and William Johnson (-73kg) who won gold by defeating fellow Brit Connor Ireland.

Joining Ireland with silver medals were Stuart McWatt (-81kg), Daniel Powell (-66kg), Michelle Boyle (+78kg) and Jemima Yeats-Brown (-70kg).

In the +100kg category, Valentino Volante won the bronze. Not to be outdone, the women also collected their share of bronze medals through Bekky Livesey (-57kg), Lubjana Piovesana (-63kg), Lucy Renshall (-63kg) and Kelly Staddon (-48kg).

Coming in 5th were Eric Ham (-66kg), Connor Potts (-55kg), Rhys Thompson (-90kg), Prisca Awiti-Alcaraz (-63kg), Ebony Drysdale Daley (-70kg) and Chelsie Giles (-52kg).

Niel Macdonald (-60kg), Jamal Petgrave (-90kg), Jodie Caller (-57kg) and Stephanie Walker (-52kg) all came in 7th place.
